Football’s biggest night is almost here, and for many people the most exciting part of the Big Game is the event’s annual halftime show. Usher will be the headlining performer at Super Bowl LVIII, which will see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 11.

The game is a rematch of Super Bowl 54, when the Chiefs beat the 49ers, 31-20, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Kansas City advanced to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five seasons after a 17-10 victory over Baltimore in the AFC Championship Game. Coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are trying to earn their third Lombardi Trophy since the latter was drafted with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Chiefs finished the regular season 11-6 and were the No. 3 seed in the postseason, which meant they had to play on the road for the first time with Mahomes as the starting quarterback.

Mahomes is tied with Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning and John Elway for the third most postseason wins for any quarterback in NFL history with 14. Tom Brady (35) and Joe Montana (16) have the most postseason victories by a quarterback.

Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce has been dominant and he finished with 11 catches on 11 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens, passing Jerry Rice for the most career postseason catches for any player in NFL history with 156. Kelce also tied Rice for the most 100-yard receiving games in postseason history with his performance, doing so for the eighth time.

However, Kansas City's defense has set the tone in the playoffs, allowing 13.7 points per game in victories over Miami, Buffalo and Baltimore.

San Francisco rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat Detroit, 34-31, in the NFC Championship Game. The 49ers finished 12-5 in the regular season, and coach Kyle Shanahan will play for a Super Bowl title for the second time in five seasons.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been solid throughout the postseason and will make his Super Bowl debut. Running back Christian McCaffrey is the third player in NFL history to register 50 or more yards from scrimmage and one or more touchdowns in each of his first six career playoff games.

Defensive end Nick Bosa leads a defense that was among the best in the NFL during the regular season. San Francisco's eight trips to the Super Bowl are tied for the second most in NFL history. The 49ers have also won 38 playoff games, the most in NFL history.

The San Francisco 49ers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58. The game kicks off from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 11. The game will air on CBS and will be available to stream on Paramount+. Make sure you have a login ready if you’re planning to stream — you don’t want to be the person caught hosting a Super Bowl party without a way to actually watch the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs return to the title game hoping to defend last year’s win. If they pull off a victory over San Francisco, they will become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since Tom Brady and the Patriots pulled off the feat in 2004 and 2005. Kansas City has now reached four Super Bowls in the last five seasons.

The Niners’ last title game appearance was in 2020, and they faced none other than the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won 31-20. The 49ers have not won a Super Bowl since 1995.

Four years ago, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida. Tonight, the two meet again in Las Vegas in the biggest sporting event on the American calendar.

That 31-20 win in 2020 marked the beginning of an era of dominance for the Chiefs. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP after leading a 10-point fourth-quarter comeback with two touchdown passes, and coach Andy Reid won his first Lombardi Trophy. Alongside star tight end Travis Kelce (who, yes, is dating Taylor Swift), the Chiefs would make four of the five Super Bowls this decade. They won their second championship last season in a 38-35 back-and-forth bout with the Philadelphia Eagles, with Mahomes again claiming MVP honors after throwing three TDs.

The 49ers haven't been slouches since that loss. Led by head coach Kyle Shanahan, the Niners have made the conference championship round the past three seasons. Brock Purdy has gone from "Mr. Irrelevant" as the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to an MVP finalist quarterback. He leads a high-octane offense featuring fellow MVP candidate running back Christian McCaffrey, a passing and blocking threat in tight end George Kittle, pass-catching receiver Brandon Aiyuk and do-everything wideout Deebo Samuel.

But that's just the beginning of the intrigue surrounding Super Bowl 58. Swifties will be furiously monitoring flight trackers all weekend to see if Taylor Swift will make it from her Tokyo concert to Allegiant Stadium in time for kickoff. Usher will set the stage on fire at the halftime show. And in between all that are the ads, which for plenty of TV viewers matter most of all. And hey, if you're seeking a way to get your kids into the game, flip over to Nickelodeon for analysis from SpongeBob and Patrick.

Super Bowl 58 will be a rematch of the 2020 Super Bowl, which the Chiefs won 31-20 after being down 20-10 at the start of the fourth quarter. It was the first Super Bowl title for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who led the team to another trophy last year. The Chiefs are looking to be the first repeat NFL champions since the New England Patriots won back-to-back titles in 2004 and 2005. The 49ers have not been to a Super Bowl since losing to the Chiefs in 2020 and haven't won a title since 1995.

Stars will be on display, including Taylor Swift potentially flying from a concert in Tokyo to Las Vegas in time to support the Chiefs and boyfriend Travis Kelce. The 49ers may not have the star power at quarterback and tight end of the Chiefs, but Niners QB Brock Purdy has been solid in leading the team to the Super Bowl. Purdy is directing Kyle Shanahan's offense with precision and has weapons all over the field. Those weapons start with running back Christian McCaffrey alongside him in the backfield and include receiving threats in tight end George Kittle and wideouts Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.

It is the long-awaited final of the tournament, the much-anticipated showdown that promises to deliver numerous emotions, celebrations, immense intensity, and, of course, the potential to crown a new champion who will be immortalized within the context of the first major sporting event of 2024.

The San Francisco 49ers have progressed steadily to reach this Super Bowl, marked by minimal defeats throughout the season and a strong sense of solidity. However, they now face none other than the reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, who aim to replicate their success from 2023.

The Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions and have been regulars in the big game during the 2020s, making it for the fourth time in five seasons. The 49ers haven't won a Super Bowl since 1995 but have been among the NFL's best teams the past several years, losing to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 54.
